Safety Requirements and Precautions for Low-Voltage Distribution Cabinets

Category: Industry News

Release time: 2022-03-03

Summary: To ensure the normal and safe operation of low-voltage switchgear cabinets, the location of the low-voltage switchgear room should be close to the load center. The installation site must be free from dust, corrosive substances, and other contaminants; otherwise, these should be promptly removed. For safety reasons, the environment should be relatively dry and well-ventilated, and the installation site should ideally be free from vibrations.

To ensure the normal and safe operation of low-voltage switchgear cabinets, the location of the low-voltage switchgear room should be close to the load center. The installation site must be free from dust, corrosive substances, and other contaminants; otherwise, these should be promptly removed. For safety reasons, the environment should be relatively dry and well-ventilated, and the installation site should ideally be free from vibrations.

The arrangement of distribution equipment in low-voltage switchgear cabinets must be carried out under the premises of safety, reliability, suitability, and economy. Additionally, the layout should facilitate installation, operation, handling, maintenance, testing, and monitoring. Between high- and low-voltage electrical equipment located within the same room, as well as between rows of arranged switchgear cabinets, adequate spacing and accessible passageways must be provided. When arranging distribution equipment, necessary safety measures shall be adopted; for instance, exposed live parts with hazardous potentials must be shielded or positioned beyond the reach of human arms. When it is difficult to use shields or enclosures, barriers may be employed for protection.

The arrangement of distribution circuits in low-voltage switchgear shall meet the following conditions: it must conform to the environmental characteristics of the installation location; it must be consistent with the architectural features of the building; it must ensure that the distance between people and the conductors is appropriate; it must take into account the electromechanical stresses that may arise from short circuits; and it must consider other stresses that the wiring may experience during installation and operation, as well as the weight of the conductors themselves.

What factors affect the arrangement of distribution lines in low-voltage switchgear? These include preventing external heat from impacting operation, avoiding water ingress that could impair performance, guarding against external mechanical damage that might affect functionality, keeping dust from accumulating on wiring to ensure proper operation, and protecting against the effects of strong radiation.

Precautions for Low-Voltage Distribution Cabinets

1: During maintenance, a dedicated person must be assigned to provide supervision.

2: You must check for voltage before starting work.

3: Maintenance personnel should be familiar with and able to operate the electrical and mechanical interlocking system of the entire distribution cabinet.

4: During maintenance, you should carefully identify which lines are supplied by dual circuits.

5: When inspecting the busbar, thoroughly discharge any residual charges remaining in the circuit.
